SEEK LORD SHIVA'S BLESSINGS AT THE NEELKANTH TEMPLE
Neelkanth temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located within the Sariska Tiger Reserve premises. Though it is almost in ruins, locals still hold faith in this temple and many other temples in the reserve. It is actually a cluster of a few temples together almost 30 kms into an isolated hill in the Tiger Reserve. It is noted for its excellent stone carving and the lush green forests that surround the temple add to its beauty.
EXPLORE THE RUINS OF KANKWARI FORT
Kankwari Fort is located right deep inside the Sariska National Park and Tiger Reserve. Located 21 km away from the main park entrance, this old fort is renowned for its unique landscaping. VISIT THE PANDUPOL BUILT BY "THE PANDAVAS"
This historical site is located deep within the confines of the Sariska Tiger Sanctuary. Pandupol is a natural opening (gate) in the rocks through which the Pandavas are believed to have passed in their period of exile with a Hanuman Temple which is said to have been in existence for thousands of years. There are lovely reflections of the palm trees in the adjacent stream while monkeys are treated as reincarnations of the god Hanuman and devotees offer them prasad.
GO PICKNIKING NEAR THE SILISERH LAKE
Spread around 7 sq km, Siliserh Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Aravalli hills of Rajasthan, though infested partly by crocodiles. It was built in 1845 by Maharaja Vinay Singh to cater to the needs of the people of Alwar. Just adjacent to the lake is a beautiful Lake Palace that he built for his wife Shila. The boat ride is one of the best things to do to enjoy this expansive lake. Bird watchers can capture the sights of migratory birds and more species of winged creatures. The presence of Aravalli Hills in the backdrop of the lake is perfect for enjoying a picnic on a pleasant day out.
SCALE THE EERIE REALMS OF BHANGARH FORT
Add more thrill to your trip to Sariska Tiger Reserve by visiting the Bhangarh Fort. Located at the border of the Sariska Tiger Reserve in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, Bhangarh Fort is a 17th-century fort, known as the 'Most haunted place of India'. Because of the numerous ghostly experiences and happenings in the fort premises, villages have sprung up far away from the fort, due to the fear of what lies within. Even the Archaeological Survey of India or the ASI has forbidden the locals and tourists from entering the fort at night. This completely ruined, haunted fort of Bhangarh does have a very eerie aura to it. Several legends have attested to the paranormal happenings inside the fort.
